The Children's Railway of the Kazan Gorky Railway Division opened in Kazan's Lebyazhye City Park as part of Tatarstan's Republic Day celebration. The administrative and training buildings were constructed with high-tech Thermopanel sandwich panels. August 30, 2007 was the official opening of this project, which was initiated by Vladimir Yakunin, President of Russian Railways, JSC, and President of Tatarstan Republic, Mintimer Shaimiev. The Children's Railway is not only a training facility, but a small public transport depot. The 4.2-km narrow-gauge railroad, with seven turnouts and two crossings, is equipped with state-of-the-art railroad equipment, such as safety tools, traffic lights, interlocking and automatic block systems and communication facilities.
